The History of ACCA
The Athens Community Council on Aging, Inc. has a history of service to Northeast Georgia, a regional scope which has only been limited by funding.
The agency has displayed commitment and initiative to services for the elderly through seeking funding aggressively and creatively and has participated in national and statewide efforts to develop new services such as In-Home Supportive Service, In-Home Senior Companion Program, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Foster Grandparent Program targeted to high-risk children, Mobile Adult Day Care, Senior Employment Services, and Adult Day Care in numerous communities.
The services provided by the agency are broad based and reach seniors with a continuum of need. ACCA serves the frailest of the frail, those who are institutionalized, and the most active, those who volunteer or engage in recreation and employment programs.
