ADH Loves Its Transportation Team

Almost thirty years ago, in 1983, President Ronald Reagan set aside the third week of September for National Adult Day Services Week to raise awareness of adult day service programs across the nation. In honor of that celebration, ACCA’s Adult Day Programs will celebrate this year’s theme of Care, Compassion and Community with week-long activities planned at both our Athens and Winder sites.

ACCA has one of the longest running Adult Day Service Programs in the state of Georgia with our Athens site operating since 1972.  We expanded services in 1998 with the opening of our Mobile Adult Day Program, currently serving Walton County, and further expanded to include our Winder/Barrow Center in 2000.    Our programs provide health monitoring, nutrition services, therapeutic activities, personal care, and physical and speech therapy to frail adults, adults with dementia and adults with disabilities.

As we celebrate week long festivities for National Adult Day Service week, we will continue the theme of Care, Compassion and Community by highlighting the special staff, volunteers, caregivers and participants who make our programs so special.

Transportation Drivers for ADH - THANK YOU!!

Today, the Bentley Adult Day Health staff honored transportation services with a buffet breakfast. We so appreciate these wonderful drivers who do so much more for our participants then just drive a van.  “BJ”, an ACCA Bentley Adult Day Service participant, has been transported on the ACCA van service for several years.  She remarks about her favorite driver, Greg.   “He used to always ask me how I’m feeling when he picked me up to take me to the center.  I don’t ride his van anymore, but when I see him around the center, he still asks me how I am feeling.” Each and every one of the transportation teams that assist in getting our clients to and from Adult Day Health are so important to us and we couldn’t do our jobs without them.

Check back each day this week to see more focuses from ACCA’s celebration of Adult Day Health Week!!
