ATHENS VOLUNTEER EXTRORDINAIRE

ATHENS, Ga. – The Athens Community Council on Aging (ACCA) and Home Delivered Meals program (Meals on Wheels) is excited to announce one of their volunteers, Dorothy Newland, is a contender for the Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA)’s Annual American Volunteer contest.

Dorothy has been volunteering with the Home Delivered Meals program for over 4 decades.   “She is one of the most selfless people I have ever met in my life” said Jennie Deese, President/CEO of ACCA.  The winner of the contest is determined by the number of votes they get on their online video.  MOWAA moved the contest to Facebook this year making it easier than ever for community involvement and local voting.  Voting started on Friday, July 8 and will continue through August 26.
