Senior Line Dance Class

Are you looking for a new way to keep your health in LINE, and have fun at the same time? If so, join us on Tuesdays from 4PM - 5PM in the Harris Room at ACCA Senior Center for our new Senior Line Dance Class.

Starting October 27th, 2009

Cost: $5 per person/class

Yoga

Yoga is a mind/body practice of relaxation and rejuvenation that uses awareness, breath, and movement to bring all systems of the body into balance. Gentle stretching, mindful awareness, breathing practices, and deep relaxation restore natural calm to both body and mind.

*There is no charge for these classes, but students are encouraged to support the Senior Center.

Tai Chi

Please join us for this internal martial artsChinese discipline. Tai Chi combines mental focus with deliberate, graceful movements that improve strength, agility and balance.

“Previous studies have shown that Tai Chi practiced regularly helps reduce falls among healthy seniors.” (Time Magazine, August 5, 2002)

This class is designed to allow you to move at your own pace.

There is a one time fee of $15 per semester.

This class meets each Tuesday from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM


Speaking of Falling

Loss of balance is common, but it doesn't have to mean serious injury. Come learn about risk factors that can lead to a fall, basic skills to prevent a fall, and simple exercises to keep you steady on your feet.

With so much interest in health care, this presentation is about understanding what makes our bodies work well pluss simple, natural ways we can make charge and become more of an owner of our own health and wellness.

This weight control program provides lesson plans, pre-made menues, recipes, and a walking program that will help those dealing with diabetes, overweight, obesity, and other chronic diseases to lose weight and become more physically fit.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the number of choices at the store? Are you confused by nutrition labels? What is trans fat? Fresh versus frozen: Which is better?

Following an informational session, the group will visit a local grocery store for an interactive educational experience
