Spring 2018 Internship Opportunities:
The Center for Active Living is a multi-purpose center dedicated to offering a variety of social, educational and wellness programs for older adults in Athens and the surrounding area. Interns will gain experience with program development and implementation, advocacy, and marketing a wellness program.
GeorgiaCares is a private-public partnership sponsored by the Department of Human Services, the Division of Aging Services, and the Area Agencies on Aging that provides no cost benefit counseling for older adults. Interns will gain extensive knowledge of Medicare and other health benefits, and experience with benefits counseling, community education and outreach, and public speaking.
ACCA currently operates fourteen programs across twenty-seven counties, serving over 12,000 older adults and individuals with disabilities. These programs are supported through a variety of funding sources which require compliance to a number of standards and regulations. Interns will gain experience with program evaluation, program compliance, and non-profit operations.
ACCA’s fifty year history of providing meaningful service to older adults has been sustained, in no small part, by the generous support of the community. This support continues through ongoing development campaigns, fundraising events, and planned giving. Interns will gain experience with fundraising and volunteer event planning, development tracking and donor data management.
ACCA has been a leading partner in the Athens Senior Hunger Coalition since its inception in 2010. The members of the coalition share the goal of combating senior hunger in the Athens area through innovative programs and partnerships. Interns will gain experience with developing and leading nutrition education sessions, program sustainability planning, and program operations.
