Together, We Deliver!

Each year, ACCA serves over 68,000 daily delivered meals to more than 300 older adults and adults with disabilities in Clarke and Barrow Counties. A dedicated group of more than 200 volunteers deliver not only nutritious meals but a friendly visit, safety check, home repairs and a continued connection to the community… making it much more than a meal.

Last year, 2022, marked the 50th Anniversary of our Meals on Wheels program! We’re incredibly excited to have celebrate this milestone as part of Meals on Wheels America’s 20th annual March for Meals nationwide celebration. Click here to learn how we got started.

Nutritious Meal

Our healthy and delicious meals ensure that each person we serve receives adequate nutrition necessary for health, functionality and independence. Our Meals on Wheels recipients are given weekly menus with the option to choose a meal that suits their tastes and dietary requirements. They can receive daily meals, frozen meals for nights and weekends and/or shelf stable commodities.

Friendly Visit

Volunteers are the heart of our Meals on Wheels Program! Because of them, meals are delivered each day with a warm smile and friendship. For so many of our Meals on Wheels recipients, our volunteers are the only person they see or speak with all day.  Volunteers give them something to look forward to, a reassuring voice, and a reminder that they are cared for.

Safety Check

Many of our Meals on Wheels clients are vulnerable adults, living alone. This leaves them at an increased risk for medical emergencies, falls and other accidents. Our Meals on Wheels volunteers are trained to ensure that a watchful eye accompanies each meal delivery.  Volunteers immediately notify ACCA staff, family members and/or emergency personnel in the case of an emergency.

And so much more……

Because of a generous and caring community of support, ACCA’s Meals on Wheels program can deliver so much more. Our long-lasting, continued partnerships, provide our recipients with fresh produce and commodity deliveries, lunch sharing, home visits from a Geriatrician and/or Medical Resident, assistance with minor home repairs, library books, fans, holiday gifts and so much more!

Will’s Pet Pantry

Everyone that has owned a pet understands the joy and companionship our furry (or feathered, or scaled) friends can bring. For those who live alone and are not able to get out and about that impact is even greater. At ACCA, we understand the importance of this connection and through our meals for pets program we can help to ensure both pet and owner have the food and care they need.

In September 2017, ACCA’s Meals for Pets program was officially named Will’s Pet Pantry in memory of pet advocate, Will Seagraves.

Donna Seagraves says of her son, “Will was a kind, compassionate young man who struggled with mental illness for the last several years of his life. Will had a special bond with animals-he loved them, and they loved him. We knew the best way to honor his memory was the establishment of a pet pantry to provide food and veterinary assistance to Meals on Wheels recipients. Will’s Pet Pantry provides the means for Meals on Wheels participants to enjoy the benefits of pet ownership without its full financial burden.”

Will’s Pet Pantry is made possible through the generous support of the Seagraves Family, Meals on Wheels America, and donations from the community.
