Have you been thinking about getting a 4-legged companion? If so, would you be willing to foster a cat with the option to adopt?
UGA’s Foster Cat Research Study is seeking people age 60 or older who live alone and don’t have any pets to participate in a research study assessing the impact of feline companionship on mental and emotional health in older adults. Participants will be paired with a cat to foster from either the Athens Area Humane Society of Campus Cats Rescue for 4 months. Participants are eligible to adopt their foster cat and remain on the study for up to 12 months or allow their foster cat to be adopted by someone else after 4 months.
All cats will come spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas and microchipped. Cat supplies, litter and food will be provided free to charge during the study.
