We are looking for a full time Activity Coordinator to join our Adult Day Health Care Partner team, serving our Bentley Center in Athens and Winder Adult Day Health in Barrow County.

Reports To: Adult Day Health Director, Care Partner

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive, person-centered therapeutic activity program that includes both group and self-directed activities, and that is appropriate to the physical and cognitive abilities of the group and individual.
  • Create a monthly calendar of diverse activity programming based on participants interests and needs that can be adapted and modified to ensure all participants may engage to the extent of their abilities.
  • Conduct activity assessments for each participant and create Activity Care Plans with measurable programming goals and objectives.
  • Train Health and Activity Care Partners in conducting therapeutic activities, and supervise their implementation one-on-one, small and large group activities throughout the day.
  • Provide support to the Care Partner team as needed, including transporting clients in agency vehicles, assisting with meal prep and service, and supplemental and season agency wide programming.
  • Purchase activity supplies and monitor the monthly activity budget.
  • Recruit and engage community volunteers and supervise volunteers conducting activities.
  • Supervise student interns as requested by the ADH Director and/or Winder ADH Coordinator.

Essential Requirements:

  • We stay busy but like to have fun! A great sense of humor is a must! This position demands comfort with public speaking and a healthy dose of silliness.
  • Nationally Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or bachelor’s degree in a related health or social sciences field or Activity Professional Certificate and a minimum 2 years’ experience working with older adults, adults with disabilities, and individuals with Alzheimer’s or related dementias.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to quickly establish a rapport. Ability to communicate with and engage individuals with communication limitations, including hearing loss, aphasia, and dementia.
  • Ability to motivate others toward achieving goals.
  • Detail oriented with strong documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual conferencing platforms, at an intermediate skill level, at minimum.
  • The ability to make sound decisions under pressure is required. This position works with confidential information and the ability to use sound judgment regarding this information and maintain confidentiality is required. Ability to work independently with a strong sense of focus is required as well as be task- oriented, non-judgmental with a clear sense of boundaries.
  • Ability to talk, hear, and communicate with clients and caregivers and the ability to see and be able to read, write, and interpret written documents is required.

Reports To: LPN, Care Partner

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional care to our members.
  • Assist with the planning and leading person-centered activities.
  • Provide physical support for members with personal care. This includes bathing, toileting, general hygiene, hair and nail care, eating, and walking.
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and snacks.
  • Maintain accurate and current records on clients’ meal consumption, and vital signs, and evaluate the general health condition of participants every day and report information to RN.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for participants.
  • Keep all participant-related information confidential.
  • Evaluate the general health condition of participants every day and report information to RN.
  • Work as a member of the ADH team, providing support and coverage as needed.
Essential Requirements:

UGA VISTA: Athens Community Council on Aging

Spend a year being an anti-hunger hero! Join ACCA as the Senior Hunger AmeriCorps VISTA!

ACCA is currently accepting applications for our next Americorps VISTA. This individual will work to increase capacity, grow partnership and expand the reach of our initiatives combating senior hunger. VISTAs serve for a full year and receive a bi-monthly stipend. Additionally, VISTAs who successfully complete their term of service are eligible for an additional cash stipend or financial educational award.

AmeriCorps Seniors Program Assistant, Part-Time

ACCA is looking for a part-time Program Specialist to join our AmeriCorps Seniors team. This position works closely with our AmeriCorps Seniors Coordinator to support the service minded older adults in our Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs.

Our AmeriCorps Seniors staff work with older adults that are looking to make a difference in their community while also being able to earn a small stipend for their volunteer work. These AmeriCorps Seniors programs improve the lives of isolated older adults and children that need some extra attention in the classroom.

Reports To: AmeriCorps Seniors Coordinator

Supervises:  Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion volunteers, AmeriCorps Seniors interns

Essential Responsibilities:

Volunteer Recruitment and On-Boarding:

  • Assist the Coordinator in planning and implementing a variety recruitment efforts and events.
  • Receive and follow up on inquiries from potential volunteers.
  • Guide new volunteers through the on-boarding process, ensuring they meet program requirements and complete their application in a timely manner.
  • With the support of the Coordinator, conduct regular volunteer orientation sessions that educate the volunteers on agency and program policies and regulations.
  • Maintain required documentation of the application and enrollment process.

Volunteer Training and Recognition:

  • Assist the Coordinator in coordinating orientations and monthly training sessions for volunteers.
  • Communicate identified training needs to the Coordinator and assist with finding appropriate training resources.
  • Work with the Coordinator and ACCA Volunteer Coordinator to plan and implement meaningful volunteer recognition events and efforts.

Volunteer Placement:

  • Recruit volunteer stations and assess station needs; recommend volunteers who could fill those needs.
  • Assist with clerical tasks of station management and maintain collaborative relationships with stations.
  • Provide oversight of the volunteer and volunteer station performance.

Volunteer and Community Relations:

  • Ensure the interests of the volunteers, clients, stations and the program are maintained.
  • Collect necessary data to assist in the preparation of required reports and ensure all volunteer and station files are current, accurate, and complete.
  • Ensure the satisfaction of volunteers, clients and station staff with assignments, directing concerns to the Coordinator as needed.
  • Ensure volunteers and clients are aware of and connected to ACCA services as needed.

Program Compliance and Operations:

  • Assist the Coordinator with required record keeping and reporting.
  • Stay up to date on ACCA and AmeriCorps Seniors policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the day to day operations of the AmeriCorps Seniors programs.
  • Assist with operations of the Senior Service Corps Advisory Council.
  • Assist the overall AmeriCorps Seniors activities as needed, including special events such as Senior Leadership Academy, national days of service and Senior Corps Week.
  • Assist with inter-and intra-agency coordination. Maintain active working relationships with ACCA and program staff, administration and Board of Directors, other community agencies, and student interns.
Essential Requirements:
  • Able to quickly establish a rapport with a wide variety of people.
  • Highly detail oriented, with excellent organization and data entry skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; proficient in Zoom. Possesses the skills needed to navigate online resources and platforms with ease, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Service or health related field preferred. Associates Degree or exemplary experience combined with High School degree will be considered.
  • A minimum of two+ years’ relevant experience, preferably in working with older adults and persons of all socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to pass a Federal and state background check.
