Our Adult Day Health Program offers medical monitoring, therapeutic activities and assistance with personal care needs to medically frail adults and individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The program offers safe, engaging environments for participants and respite for caregivers.
ACCA operates two Adult Day Health Centers in Athens and Winder. Both sites provide medical monitoring, nutritious meals, therapeutic activities, physical and occupational therapy, and personal care services.
The Winder Adult Day Health Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30AM-3:30PM
Medical Monitoring
Our nursing staff monitor general health, administer medications, arrange doctor appointments, monitor blood glucose levels and act as a liaison and advocate for the participant and family members within the health care community.
Nutritious Meals
A light breakfast and delicious and nutritious lunch are served each day, and modified meals are available to accommodate participants with diabetes, high blood pressure, swallowing difficulties and other medical conditions. Our staff are fully trained to assist individuals who are no longer able to eat independently.
Therapeutic Activities
Our centers offer a stimulating social environment with planned, age appropriate, therapeutic activities focused on maintaining and improving physical, social, mental, emotional and spiritual functioning. Activities include daily exercise, brainteasers, arts and crafts, discussion groups, music, Bingo, special events, and group outings.
Therapy Services
Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapy are offered on-site, five days a week through a partnership with Genesis Rehab Services.
Personal Care Services
Our trained program staff offer assistance with personal care services such as toileting, oral hygiene, grooming, and skin and nail care. Both the Athens and Winder sites have accessible tubs and showers, and staff are available to assist with bathing.
All services provided are conducted under the supervision of licensed Registered Nurses. Activities are supervised and coordinated by an Activities Director.
Funding: Clients may qualify for funding through Medicaid’s Elderly and Disabled Waiver Program or grants available through the Northeast Georgia’s Area Agency on Aging. Funding sources are also available through private long-term care insurance and are determined on an individual basis. Private pay costs are $12.00 per hour or $60.00 per day for five hours or longer.

Transportation: The Athens Community Council on Aging provides transportation for clients attending the Athens site who live within a 15-mile radius of the center. Transportation for the Winder site and other clients, who qualify, are provided by Medicaid’s non-emergency transportation.
