Formerly the Athens Clarke County Senior Center, the Center for Active Living (CAL) is a multi-purpose center dedicated to offering a variety of opportunities for older adults of the Athens and surrounding areas. CAL provides learning opportunities to engage older adults (50+) by offering unique social, cultural, educational, and wellness-related classes and activities. The Center for Active Living’s quarterly catalog (in the back of our Connections magazine), features educational classes and events, trips, ongoing fitness classes, ongoing social activities, and support groups.

Membership Information:

  • $45 per person, per year for Athens-Clarke County residents
  • $55 per person, per year for residents outside of Athens-Clarke County
  • Each member must fill out a registration form in addition to payment
  • Renewal date is one year from the date you joined the Center for Active Living

Center for Active Living Plus Program (CAL +)
CAL also offers an extensive Plus Program, which includes additional opportunities for older adults age 60+ who are residents of Athens-Clarke County. The plus program offers a door to door transportation program for those unable to drive, morning activities, a noon lunch, and case management, if needed. This program runs from 8am-1pm. Please Note: the Plus program has different membership details than those listed above. For eligibility details and additional information on the Plus program, please contact the CAL Plus Program Manager at 706-549-4850.

General Guidelines for Center for Active Living Participation
•Participants for general CAL usage must be at least 50 years of age and can reside in any county.
•Participants of the CAL+ program must be 60 years of age and a resident of Clarke County. All other programs or services are open to all area residents.
