Reporting to the President/CEO, the Director of Development leads ACCA’s relationship-centered philanthropy strategy. This role focuses on building and stewarding meaningful relationships with individual donors, partners, foundations, and community stakeholders while partnering closely with the CEO and Marketing Director to tell ACCA’s story in compelling, human-centered ways.

The Director of Development is not expected to “save the day,” but to dream about and build the next day, creating a culture of generosity rooted in trust, gratitude, and shared ownership of ACCA’s mission.

Essential Responsibilities:

Relationship Building, Storytelling & Stewardship

  • Serve as ACCA’s lead architect of the donor and partner experience, from first connection through long-term stewardship.
  • Build authentic, trust-based relationships with a portfolio of current and prospective donors through personalized outreach, meetings, site visits, and meaningful engagement opportunities.
  • Partner closely with the President/CEO and Marketing Director to translate ACCA’s impact, programs, and strategy into compelling stories that inspire generosity and long-term commitment.
  • Design and implement proactive stewardship strategies, including impact reporting, donor recognition, and opportunities for deeper involvement.
  • Ensure every donor interaction reflects ACCA’s values of generosity, gratitude, kindness, and respect.

Development Strategy & Fundraising

  • Lead and grow ACCA’s comprehensive fundraising strategy with an emphasis on individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, campaigns, special events, planned giving, and foundations.
  • Develop and implement strategies that move individuals from initial connection to sustained investment, advocacy, and partnership.
  • Oversee donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship across all giving levels.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director and external marketing partners to ensure consistent, compelling messaging across fundraising and engagement channels.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive proposals, presentations, and materials that clearly articulate ACCA’s mission, impact, and funding priorities.
  • Ensure accurate tracking, acknowledgment, and reporting of gifts in collaboration with the Development Coordinator.
  • Monitor fundraising performance and key relationship metrics; provide regular progress reports to the CEO and Board of Directors.

Board & Ambassador Engagement

  • Serve as staff liaison to the Board Development Committee.
  • Equip board members, staff, and volunteers as confident storytellers and relationship ambassadors.
  • Provide training, tools, and coaching to support relationship-based philanthropy and meaningful donor engagement.
  • Partner with board leadership to expand networks, deepen community relationships, and strengthen philanthropic culture.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor the Relationship Coordinator and Development Coordinator as a cohesive engagement team.
  • Foster strong collaboration between Development, Marketing, and Programs to ensure alignment around donor experience and storytelling.
  • Promote a culture of high performance, learning, accountability, and shared purpose.
  • Set clear goals related to relationship activity, stewardship quality, and growth—not just dollars raised.

Strategy, Vision & Leadership

  • Serve as a member of ACCA’s Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy, growth planning, and revenue diversification.
  • Act as a strategic thought partner to the CEO on long-term sustainability, funding models, and community investment.
  • Maintain open, timely communication with the CEO regarding opportunities, challenges, and relationship insights.

Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrated success building and sustaining long-term donor and partner relationships.
  • Strong storytelling skills with the ability to translate impact into compelling narratives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in fundraising, development, or related relationship-centered roles.
  • Goal-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • High emotional intelligence, empathy, and curiosity.
  • Comfortable working occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License required.

AmeriCorps Seniors, Program Coordinator

The AmeriCorps Seniors Program Coordinator oversees the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs, managing volunteers ages 55+ and expanding program capacity across ACCA’s northeast Georgia service area. This role builds and maintains strong partnerships with schools, and community organizations while ensuring program quality, compliance, and impact.

Program Overview

AmeriCorps Seniors programs provide adults age 55+ the opportunity to serve their communities while earning a modest stipend.

  • Foster Grandparent Program: Volunteers mentor and support children in schools, Head Start, and after-school programs.
  • Senior Companion Program: Volunteers assist older adults and individuals with disabilities through companionship and help with daily tasks in their homes.

Reporting & Supervision

This position reports to the Vice President/Director of Operations and supervises the AmeriCorps Seniors Program Specialist, volunteers, interns, and other program support staff.

Essential Responsibilities

Program & Grant Management

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate all phases of the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs.
  • Manage program budgets, expenditures, and grant compliance.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community agencies and service sites.
  • Support grant applications, renewals, and related funding requests.
  • Hire, train, and supervise program staff and interns in alignment with ACCA’s Core Values.

Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, screen, onboard, and train volunteers across a 12-county service area.

Position Overview: The Program Coordinator for the Center for Active Living (CAL) is a guest-experience–driven role at the heart of ACCA’s vibrant community hub. This position is ideal for someone with a background in hospitality, customer service, events, or community experience who loves creating environments where people feel welcomed, known, and excited to return.

The Program Coordinator is often the first impression of CAL and a key steward of the daily member experience—ensuring programs, spaces, and interactions are warm, organized, and seamless. Working closely with the Director of Community, this role helps turn great ideas into meaningful experiences that invite older adults to connect, move, learn, and belong.

This role matters deeply to ACCA’s success: it is where strategy meets lived experience, and where first-time visitors become members, regulars, and advocates.

Essential Responsibilities:

Program Coordination & Experience Design (Experience-Focused)

  • Coordinate a dynamic mix of social, wellness, educational, cultural, and recreational experiences that reflect ACCA’s vision of aging well at every stage.
  • Translate program ideas into polished, guest-ready experiences—managing schedules, spaces, instructors, supplies, registration, and communications.
  • Ensure every program feels intentional, welcoming, and easy to navigate from arrival to departure.
  • Support special events, trips, and signature CAL experiences that build energy, connection, and word-of-mouth enthusiasm.
  • Track participation, attendance, and feedback to continuously refine and elevate the member experience.

Community Dining Program Coordination (Separate & Essential Program)

  • Support the coordination of the Community Dining Program as a distinct and vital CAL offering that promotes nutrition, social connection, and daily engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with dining staff, volunteers, and partners to ensure a welcoming, well-organized dining experience for participants.
  • Assist with scheduling, space coordination, participant flow, and communication related to community dining.
  • Help create opportunities for dining participants to learn about and engage in additional CAL programs, activities, and services.
  • Support data tracking, attendance, and reporting requirements related to the Community Dining Program.

Member Engagement & Hospitality (Front-of-House)

  • Serve as a front-line ambassador for ACCA and the Center for Active Living by greeting members, answering phones, and providing warm, responsive customer service.
  • Guide members and guests through registration, check-in, and participation with clarity and warmth.
  • Actively support recruitment of new members by offering tours, answering questions, and helping prospective participants see themselves at CAL.
  • Follow up with first-time visitors, guests, and inquiries to encourage return visits and membership.
  • Create a positive, inviting environment where members feel known, supported, and encouraged to participate.
  • Assist with room setup, breakdown, and daily operational flow to ensure a smooth, enjoyable experience.

Staff, Instructor & Volunteer Support

  • Support instructors, volunteers, interns, and partners to ensure programs run smoothly and consistently.
  • Assist with scheduling, communication, and coordination for program staff and volunteers.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Community and other CAL staff to ensure high standards of quality, hospitality, and efficiency.

Community Engagement & Outreach (Growth & Connection)

  • Support outreach and promotion of programs through newsletters, digital signage, social media, tours, and print materials.
  • Participate in recruitment activities such as open houses, community events, partner visits, and referral follow-up.
  • Share observations and ideas to improve outreach, participation, and the overall guest journey.

  • Assist with welcoming new participants and guiding them through their first experiences at CAL.

  • Support meal service and CAL operations as needed, working collaboratively across teams.

Health and Activity Aide, PRN and Part Time, Adult Day Health

 

ACCA is looking for someone caring and dependable to join our Adult Day Health (ADH) team. As a Health and Activity Aide you’ll help our members with personal care, lead fun activities, serve meals, and help to create a safe and happy environment.

Adult Day Health is a day program that supports the needs of older adults who may have physical or cognitive impairments and provides respite for family caregivers.

Our ADH Center is open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 to 6:00. This position does not require working nights or weekends.

Basic Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional care to our members.
  • Help lead fun and meaningful activities.
  • Assist members with personal care, such as eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene and walking.
  • Help serve meals and snacks and keep track of how much members eat.
  • Monitor members’ vital signs and general health and share this information with the nursing staff.
  • Help to keep the center clean, safe, and welcoming.
  • Keep all participant-related information confidential.

Long Term Care Ombudsman Representative, Gwinnett County, Field Based

Job Overview

Athens Community Council on Aging (ACCA) is seeking a Long-Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO) Representative to protect the rights, dignity, and well-being of residents living in long-term care facilities. This is a remote, field-based position that requires regular weekly travel to facilities throughout Gwinnett County, as well as independent case management, investigation, and reporting.

The LTCO Representative serves as an advocate for residents of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, personal care homes, and other long-term care settings by investigating complaints, monitoring care, educating residents and the community, and supporting resident rights under state and federal law.

Program Overview

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO) Program conducts regular visits to long-term care facilities to advocate for residents, investigate and resolve complaints, promote quality care and quality of life, and provide education to residents, families, providers, and the community.

Reports To: LTCO Program Coordinator
Supervises: LTCO Volunteers (as assigned)

Essential Responsibilities

Advocacy & Investigation

  • Promote the well-being, quality of care, and quality of life of residents in long-term care facilities.
  • Conduct routine and unannounced monitoring visits to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, personal care homes, and community living arrangements.
  • Receive, document, investigate, and resolve resident complaints in accordance with the Georgia Ombudsman Act, the Older Americans Act, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case documentation using required reporting and data systems.

 Regulatory Knowledge & Information

  • Provide residents, families, facility staff, ACCA staff, and the public with accurate information and referrals related to:
    • Residents’ rights and applicable state and federal regulations
    • The long-term care system, including available services and selection criteria
    • Referrals to appropriate agencies or programs when needs fall outside the LTCO scope
  • Interpret and apply regulatory requirements to individual cases and systemic concerns.

 Community Education & Outreach

  • Assist in the development and delivery of LTCO community education activities.
  • Develop educational materials and presentations related to long-term care issues and resident rights.
  • Support the organization and facilitation of Resident and Family Councils upon request.
  • Participate in public relations and outreach activities for the LTCO program and ACCA.

 Collaboration & Volunteer Support

  • Maintain effective working relationships with long-term care providers, regulatory agencies, and community partners.
  • Assist the LTCO Program Coordinator with the recruitment, training, supervision, orientation, and evaluation of LTCO volunteers, as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, gerontology, public health, psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience, including at least one (1) year in aging services, long-term care, healthcare, social services, regulatory compliance, or advocacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct interviews, assess situations objectively, and document findings clearly and accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear case notes and reports.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals while navigating conflict or sensitive situations.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and respect for confidentiality.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to travel regularly throughout Gwinnett County.

 Important Note:
This is not a fully remote desk position. The role requires regular in-person visits to long-term care facilities and significant independent fieldwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly in or with long-term care facilities.
  • Knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations.
  • Experience supervising, coordinating, or supporting volunteers.
