Health and Activity Aide, PRN and Full Time, Adult Day Health
ACCA is looking for someone caring and dependable to join our Adult Day Health (ADH) team. As a Health and Activity Aide you’ll help our members with personal care, lead fun activities, serve meals, and help to create a safe and happy environment.
Adult Day Health is a day program that supports the needs of older adults who may have physical or cognitive impairments and provides respite for family caregivers.
Our ADH Center is open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 to 6:00. This position does not require working nights or weekends.
Basic Job Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional care to our members.
- Help lead fun and meaningful activities.
- Assist members with personal care, such as eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene and walking.
- Help serve meals and snacks and keep track of how much members eat.
- Monitor members’ vital signs and general health and share this information with the nursing staff.
- Help to keep the center clean, safe, and welcoming.
- Keep all participant-related information confidential.
- Work as a member of the ADH team, providing help and coverage as needed.
- We stay busy but like to have fun! A great sense of humor is a must! This position demands comfort with public speaking and a healthy dose of silliness.
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED. Nursing Assistant Certificate preferred.
- Professional experience working with older people is preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and caregivers, which may include speaking, hearing, reading, and writing, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Good speaking and listening skills, and the ability to work with people who may communicate differently due to hearing loss, aphasia, and dementia.
- Able to make sound decisions under pressure, maintain confidentiality, and use good judgment when handling sensitive information.
- Able to work independently, stay focused, and complete tasks efficiently.
- Contribute to a respectful, non-judgmental workplace, and maintain clear boundaries.

AmeriCorps Seniors Program Specialist, Part-Time
ACCA is looking for a part-time Program Specialist to join our AmeriCorps Seniors team. This position works closely with our AmeriCorps Seniors Coordinator to support the older adults volunteering in our Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs.
Our AmeriCorps Seniors staff work with people who are looking to make a difference in their community while also being able to earn a small stipend for their volunteer work. These AmeriCorps Seniors programs improve the lives of isolated older adults and children that need some extra attention in the classroom.
Reports To: AmeriCorps Seniors Coordinator
Supervises: Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion volunteers, AmeriCorps Seniors interns
Essential Responsibilities
This position plays an important role in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all activities of the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs by working closely with the Program Coordinator.
Areas of focus include:
- Recruiting and on-boarding new volunteers and guiding them through the onboarding process and orientation training.
- Assisting with the planning and implementation of regular volunteer in-service training, including identifying areas of training need and appropriate training resources.
- Playing an active role in the recognition and retention of volunteers.
- Recruiting and managing volunteer stations.
- Maintaining regular communication with volunteers, stations and other stakeholders to ensure timely data collection, compliance, and satisfaction with the programs.
- Maintaining organized records and reports that are current, accurate, and complete.
- Assisting the Coordinator with agency and funder reporting.
- Taking an active role in agency events and initiatives.
This position requires:
- A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Passing a background check and drug screening.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required, associate’s degree in social service or related field preferred.
- At least two years of relevant experience. Experience working with older adults and/or in a community-based setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and possesses the skills needed to navigate online resources and platforms with ease, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology.
- The ability to quickly establish a rapport with a wide variety of people.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and strong organization skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.

Long Term Care Ombudsman Representative, Augusta region

ACCA is seeking a Long-Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO) Representative to advocate for the rights and well-being of residents in long-term care facilities. You’ll work remotely in the Augusta region, with strong support from local and Athens-based staff. The coverage area includes the following counties: Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Screven, Taliaferro, Warren, Washington, and Wilkes.

The LTCO team visits long-term care facilities, including nursing homes, assisted living, and personal care homes to investigate complaints, support residents’ rights, and provide community education.
Reports To: LTCO Program Coordinator
Supervises: LTCO volunteers
Essential Responsibilities:
- Promote the well-being, quality of care, and quality of life of residents in long term care facilities.
- Conduct routine monitoring visits to long-term care facilities, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities personal care homes, and community living arrangements.
- Provide information and referral services to residents, their families, facility staff, ACCA staff, and the public concerning, at a minimum:
- Georgia Ombudsman Act, Patients’ Rights, Older Americans Act, and state/federal regulations affecting the LTCF residents.
- The Long-Term Care system including services available, selection criteria, and the aging network.
- Referrals to other agencies, programs, etc. if information or service is needed outside the scope of the LTCO program.
- Receive and document resident complaints. Upon completion of certification, investigate and resolve complaints.
- Assist in an on-going LTCO Community Education program:
- Develop materials and provide information on LTC issues and the LTCO program for distribution or presentation to residents, community organizations, groups and agencies.
- Perform public and community relations activities for the LTCO program and the Athens Community Council on Aging.
- Assist with the organization of Resident and Family Councils as requested.
- Assist with inter- and intra-agency coordination, maintaining active working relationships with agency and community programs.
- Assist the Coordinator in providing recruitment, selection, supervision, orientation, and evaluation of volunteers as appropriate in the execution of their duties.
Essential Requirements:
- Must be an independent self-starter! This is a remote position working in the Augusta area, with support from local and Athens staff.
- Meticulous and detail oriented.
- Able to quickly establish a rapport with a wide variety of people.
- Great memory for detail.
- Impeccable written and oral communication skills.
- An undergraduate degree from a four-year college or university.
- A minimum of two years professional experience, with at least one year in aging, long term care or related fields.
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
