CAL Program

Judy joined the CAL program in November 2015 and has become a vital member of our group. Coming to the center has reconnected Judy to her community, reduced feelings of isolation and given her a greater sense of purpose. “It has opened me up to the public again. I feel more alive, I’m moving around more, doing more things….not just a sitting in my apartment.”

Because Judy is without a car, gaining access to fresh vegetables and produce has been a challenge. Since coming to the center “it’s much better,” says Judy, who benefits from ACCA’s numerous initiatives including Takeout Tuesday, Mobile Food Pantry, and Friday trips to Walmart.

As one of our most active members, Judy participates regularly in discussion groups, the Gardening Club, and Sewing Circle, and can often be found assisting other members with activities.

“It makes me feel good to see other people, and I get to help others. It’s been a great experience for me.”
