Meals on Wheels

Mr. and Mrs. M have been receiving Meals on Wheels for two years. Mrs. M is the primary caregiver for Mr. M who has Alzheimer’s disease and is bed bound. Upon starting the program Mrs. M stated that she would have more time to tend to her husband and to make sure that he had everything that he needed. She said of Mr. M that throughout their life together, he made sure that she had everything she and the children needed and some of what they wanted and now it was her turn to do the same for him.

Mrs. M always has a smile on her face and has said repeatedly that she is grateful to the Meals on Wheels staff for helping her get started on the program, the people who prepare the food for such a wonderful job they do and most of all to her volunteers. She looks forward to each and every visit from her volunteers and being able to talk to them for a few minutes before they go on to the next client. She has said that without Meals on Wheels and the volunteers that she doesn’t know what she would do.

She says that it is not the easiest taking care of someone with Alzheimer’s disease but that she is able to do it in part because of the support that she receives from Meals on Wheels.
