What is Take-out Tuesdays?
Take-out Tuesdays is a partnership between the Campus Kitchen at UGA and ACCA. On the last Tuesday of every month, we distribute food to home bound older adults in our community. Originally, our clients for Take-out Tuesdays were all on the waiting list for Home Delivered Meals, but as time goes on, we are finding more and more older adults who need extra food to make it through the month. Each client receives two bags of food. One bag is composed of canned and dry goods as well as some local fresh produce, and the second bag is made up of frozen prepared meals created by Campus Kitchen.
How can you help?
After the bags are put together, volunteers help us deliver the food to our clients’ homes in the community. Delivering food for one of these routes is similar to delivering for Home Delivered Meals. The time for each route varies, but it usually takes somewhere between 1-2 hours for each route. We are so appreciative of our volunteers, and if you are interested in helping out contact Christy Tweedy at firstname.lastname@example.org.
