ACCA and UGA Farmer’s Market

ACCA Farmers Market 2011

Seniors get ready to pick out their produce.

Wednesday, September 14 was a busy day to say the least… local farmers welcomed our seniors to ACCA that had U.S.D.A vouchers that they could use to purchase locally grown, fresh fruits and vegetables.  They had fresh cabbage, bell peppers (red and green) squash, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and much more.  They enjoyed picking out their groceries in the make shift farmers market that we set up under the pavilion outside of ACCA. Students from the UGA Food and Nutrition program interviewed some of the recipients after their purchase to gain research information.

THANKS so much for all of the hard work from the volunteers and to the UGA students that make this happen each year!!

Here’s how you can help our mission
