ACCA’s Postcard Project Catches the Attention of 11Alive

When Activity Coordinator, Gayle Oliver, was told that her clients wanted to go on vacation, she didn’t let the physical and financial challenges of such a request discourage her. She set to work making a plan to bring the vacation to them – through postcards.

It started with a social media post asking those who will be traveling this summer to consider taking the time to drop a postcard in the mail. Word of the project quickly spread and only a couple weeks into the project, the clients at the Winder Adult Day Health Center have accumulated a collection of dozens of cards from all over the world!

11Alive correspondent, Liza Lucas, heard about the project and scheduled a visit to the center to see the collection herself. On Monday, June 25th, her segment on the Postcard Project aired on the evening news!  Since then, the segment has been shared over 100 times on Facebook. Needless to say, the clients and staff at ACCA are thrilled to see the hard work and great ideas of our dedicated and caring employees in the spotlight!
