Interview Discusses new partnership with United Way 2-1-1

ACCA’s Tegan Hurley and the United Way’s Mark Madison met with Alexia Ridley for an Athens News Matters to discuss a new partnership between the two organizations.

ACCA’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, or RSVP, helps adults age 55 or older find meaningful volunteer opportunities in their communities. RSVP volunteers serve in many vital roles, and the newest opportunity is with United Way’s 211 program

United Way’s 2-1-1 1 recieves calls from 15 counties. Volunteers find the appropriate local resources to help fill the caller’s need whether it be food, shelter or to take the GED. RSVP recommends trained volunteers to 2-1-1. Having a wide range of ages in volunteers bolsters both the organization and the volunteers. Older participants come in with a background of knowledge while the younger generations bring fresh eyes.
