Start a New Thanksgiving Tradition This Year

Come to a Celebration of Small, Local, Caring Businesses giving BACK to the Athens Community! Be a part of the 1st Give Thanks 8K and Fun Run. All proceeds from the race will go to the Meals on Wheels program. Start is at the corner of Prince Avenue and Finley Street, beside Wendys. The finish is in front of Hendershots Coffee. The course loops around the Boulevard and Cobbham Historic Neighborhoods. Race day registration and packet pickup will begin at 8AM. Click HERE to register before it fills up.

Shirts and Goodies – Registration must be received by 11/15/13 to be guaranteed a t-shirt. Late registration after 11/15/13 and through race day is $35.00. T-shirts are not guaranteed for late registrations. Plenty of wonderful Hendershots coffee, hot chocolate, muffins and fruit will be available following the race. What a healthy way to begin the Thanksgiving celebration!

Series affiliation – The race is part of the 2013 Black Bag Race Series.

Parking – Parking is available behind the Bottleworks Building, at St. Josephs Catholic Church and in the former Prince Avenue Baptist Church parking lot.

Fun Run – Kids can run in the fun run for free with a paying adult.

Registration Limit – Registration will be cut off at 300 people. If that number is reached before race day, there will be no race day registration.

Awards – Awards will be given to the Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female and top three male/female runners in 5 year age groups beginning at 10 and under through 75 and over. Finish line management and results provided by Classic Race Services with results posted to www.classicraceservices.com, www.active.com, www.runningintheusa.com and www.coolrunning.com.

Fees – $30 before 11/15/13, $35 afterward and race day

Additional Date Information – 8K starts at 9AM, Fun Run will be at 10:30AM
